Famous Barrages on Indus River
There are six famous barrages on Indus River; 3 are in Punjab, 3 are in Sindh.
- Kalabagh barrage is in district Mianwali, Punjab
- Chashma barrage is also in district Mianwali, Punjab
- Taunsa barrage is in district Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab
- Guddu barrage is in district Kashmore, Sindh
- Sukkur barrage is in district Sukkur, Sindh
- Kotri barrage is in district Jamshoro near Hyderabad, Sindh
Sukkur barrage is also known as Llyod barrage, Kotri barrage is also known as Ghulam Muhammad barrage, while Kalabagh barrage is also known as Jinnah barrage.
Another barrage known as Sindh barrage is planned on the Indus river between Kotri barrage and Arabian sea near Thattha and Karachi.
