Rohtas Fort – Once South Asia’s Largest Military Base & Now A World Heritage Site
Rohtas fort (or Qila Rohtas) was built by Sher Shah Suri as a military base in Jhelum in northeast Pakistan.
In fact, it remained the largest military base in entire South Asia for centuries. Rohtas fort has an amazing history, which is what makes it one of the best forts to visit in Pakistan!
Rohtas Fort is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sher Shah had built this amazing fort to block the ousted Emperor Humayan from coming back to his former Mughal empire.

Lahore Fort – Historical Gem Of The Walled City Lahore
The Lahore Fort, more commonly known as Shahi Qila is probably the most beautiful fort in Pakistan.
It was built by Mughal King Akbar when he made Lahore his capital in 1566. Since then, this great fort has been a symbol of Lahore and all the glory associated with this historic city!
This must-visit fort is located in the walled city of Lahore.
If we were to omit its defensive wall, the fort measures 335 meters in a north-south direction and around 427 meters in an east-west direction.

Derawar Fort – One Of The Most Iconic Forts To Visit In Pakistan
Derawar Fort (also known as Qila Derawar) is undoubtedly one of the most iconic forts of Pakistan.
Standing with all its might in Cholistan Desert in the Bahawalpur division at 130km from the main Bahawalpur city, this is probably the fort that tops every tourist list!
It was constructed back in 9th century and then again in 1733 AD by the Nawab of Bahawalpur, who gave it the shape it has today.
This amazing fort, privately owned by the royal Abbasi family of Bahawalpur, also has a beautiful mosque in it.
The walls of Derawar fort are 1.5 kilometers long and an amazing 30 meters high. The fort also has 40 circular bastions, all of which are also 30 meters in height.
