GB Tour Guide: Best Places to Visit in Hunza and Gilgit Baltistan

Gilgit Baltistan shares borders with Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province to the west, a tiny section of Afghanistan’s Wakhan Corridor to the north, China’s Xinjiang to the northeast, India’s Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh to the southeast, and Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir to the south.

Five of the “eight-thousanders” and more than fifty peaks above 7,000 meters can be found in Gilgit Baltistan. Some of the world’s tallest mountain ranges are also found in this region, particularly the Karakoram and the western Himalayan mountain ranges.

Here are a few places you should visit if you are planning a trip to Gilgit Baltistan.

Fairy Meadow is a stunning meadow in the Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan. A German climber named it Fairy Meadow – and that name has been popular ever since.

In front of Fairy Meadow sits Nanga Parbat, the world’s ninth tallest peak.

Fairy Meadow is a wonderful spot to visit, with Mighty Nanga Parbat, beautiful green meadows, lakes, and lush green surroundings.

2. Deosai National Park

The Deosai Plateau is situated between the Gilgit Baltistan districts of Skardu, Astore, and Kharmang. The Skardu District contains the majority of Deosai National Park.

Because Deosai is only accessible during the summer, Balti people refer to this 3000 square kilometer plateau as Ghbiarsa, which means “Summer’s Place.”

Deosai was designated as a protected area National Park by the Gilgit Baltistan government in 1993. The endangered Himalayan Brown Bear can be found here.

3. Naltar Valley

The valley is known for its lush greenery, lakes, and a ski resort – which receives skiers from all over the world. The Pakistan Air Force PAF has also constructed a ski chairlift in the valley.

4. Hunza Valley
