Govt To Consider SIM Blockage If Inoculations Do Not Increase: Fawad Chaudhry

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry addressing a post-cabinet press briefing in Islamabad on 27th July 2021, Tuesday stated if voluntary coronavirus vaccinations do not increase, the government will deliberate the option of blocking mobile phone SIMS of unvaccinated citizens.

Fawad Chaudhry told the media: “Major cities have been tasked to vaccinate 40% of their eligible population in August, however, the inoculation ratio is still low.”

In an endeavor to immunize maximum people against the coronavirus, vaccination has been made mandatory in government organizations and institutions, he said.

Pakistan is currently under the threat of the fourth wave of the coronavirus.

With the emergence of the new Delta variant, the transmission rate of the virus has increased many folds and a sudden surge of positive cases can be seen throughout the country with 4,119 new cases reported on 27th July 2021.

The only way to combat the new strain coronavirus is by following the SOPS (i.e., wearing masks and social distancing) and getting vaccinated.
