From the location, address, and phone number of Army Museum Lahore to its timing, visiting days, and ticket price in 2024, to its history, displayed artefacts, and inside pics – this article will briefly cover everything!
Lahore Army Museum is located near the new Lahore Airport. It is the second museum of its kind. The first one is located in Rawalpindi.
Inauguration
General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff, inaugurated the museum on 13th August 2017. After a month of its inauguration, it was opened to the general public.
It is a good and much-needed addition to the limited number of museums we have in our province. So, let’s start exploring it.
Indian Captured Tanks
As you enter the museum, the first thing that you will see is the Indian captured tanks. These are four in number, and three of them were captured in a battle near Sialkot in September 1965.
The fourth one was also captured during the war with India in 1971. In order to increase the information of the visitors, a brief history is also provided.
Children and young people can also climb to these tanks through the stairs.
Tribute to Shuhada-e-Pakistan
As you move forward, you see a large number of slabs on both sides. On these slabs, the names of Shuhada-e-Pakistan are present.
Starting from 1947 when Pakistan came into being till 2016, all the officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan are mentioned there.
Some slabs are empty for updating this list from time to time.
Structure of Pak Army
Next to these slabs, there are various galleries. On the left side, you will see a map showing Army structure in detail. It also provides information about the main wings of the Pakistan Army.
Sculptures of Army Chiefs
Opposite to the Army structure, there are sculptures of Commanders-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army from 1947 until now.
Next to it, there is a long row of statues of war horses and war elephants in action.
A brief history is provided about them as well.
Portraits of National Leaders
The next gallery contains life-size portraits of the leaders who played an important role in the creation of Pakistan.
At the start, the portrait of Quaid-e-Azam is there. If you move to its left, there are statues of Fatima Jinnah and Lady Mountbatten. Along with these statues, there are photographs and brief information for the visitors.
But that’s not all, there is a lot more to see in the museum.
Many people visit the museum along with their families. Visiting the museum is not only entertaining but also provides a lot of information about history.
