Is It Possible To Take Covid Vaccination As A Pill Or An Inhaler?

Is it possible to take Covid Vaccination as a pill or an inhaler? Well, yes!

Currently, the only way of protection against Covid-19 is through inoculation by injection. However, inhalers or even pills could be used to deliver vaccines in the future.

Ingemo Andersson, a chemist from southern Sweden, and her team are determined to establish how a thin, plastic inhaler, half the size of a matchbox, can play an important role in the global fight against coronavirus.

Swedish firm Iconovo is cooperating with Immune System Regulation – a Stockholm-based immunology research start-up that has produced a dry-powder vaccine against Covid-19 – to produce an inhaler for ISR’s powdered vaccine.

According to Johan Waborg, the CEO of the firm Iconovo, the inhaler is cheap and easy to produce.

There is more work to be done before trials reveal the full potential of ISR’s air-dried vaccine, particularly if it can provide the same degree of protection as the WHO’s current list of approved vaccinations.

As of now, it has only been tested on mice despite the fact that ISR and Iconovo have gathered enough funds to commence human research in the next two months.

There is already hope in the medical community that if this powder vaccine proves to be a success, they have the potential to transform the global response to the coronavirus pandemic.
