On August 7, Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan will compete against Neeraj Chopra of India for the gold medal in the men’s javelin final at the 2020 Olympics.
The javelin competition has created a lot of interest among spectators because both Nadeem and Chopra are from rival countries.
On August 4, the two competitors made it to the qualifying round. They both threw over 83.50 meters, which was a key qualifying criterion to make the final.

Arshad Nadeem qualified for the final with an 85.16-meter throw. Chopra, meanwhile, had the best throw in Group A, throwing 86.65 meters.
Chopra was in Group A during the qualifying round for the men’s javelin event at the Summer Olympics 2020.
The 23-year-old cleared the automatic qualifying mark of 83.50 meters with his first try of 86.65 meters in Group A at the Olympic Stadium.
It put him in a good position to win a medal in Saturday’s final. It’s also worth noting that Chopra owns the national record of 88.07m, which he recorded in March at the Indian Grand Prix.
With the development of finalist Nadeem, who is currently in the finals of the men’s javelin with an 85.16-meter throw, Pakistan has a chance to win its first Olympic medal.
Behind India’s Neeraj Chopra (86.65m) and Germany’s Johannes Vetter, Nadeem’s throw was third-best on the day (85.64m).
Following his huge achievement, a wave of joy spread over Pakistan’s social media, with fans and celebrities sending prayers to Nadeem.
What a beautiful pic of sportsman spirit and mutual respect of #ArshadNadeem Pakistan & #NeerajChopra India.
