On August 2, the viral Pakistani meme ‘Friendship ended with Mudasir’ was sold as NFT for 20.00 ETH.
The $49,866.40 sale took place on the online platform Foundation, which hosts live auctions for non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
A non-fungible token, or NFT, is a form of digital signature that enables anybody to authenticate an asset’s legitimacy and ownership.
The digital record is kept on blockchain ledgers, which may be accessed by anybody seeking the asset’s owner.
The NFT of this viral meme is described as: “When one friendship ends… Another begins!” and includes a brief history of how and when the meme got viral.
The Facebook post, which began as a photoshopped graphic by a Gujranwala man Muhammad Asif Raza Rana in 2015 quickly gained popularity and global attention before becoming an all-time great meme.
On Facebook, Raza’s post received over 27,000 comments, 47,000 reactions, and 56,000 shares.
